Hey there!

Iā€™m sharing my journey as I navigate self reflections, motherhood and the happenings around me.

We're All Fighting for Something Ridiculous

We're All Fighting for Something Ridiculous

Ok, so I'm going to assume that you've heard about the Chris Brown versus Soulja Boy shenanigans by now. The cyber spat has apparently led to the two planning to meet in the ring to "duke it out."

My many thoughts around this:

  1. Is this even real?
  2. Should I really care about this?
  3. Somebody's album must be dropping soon.
  4. Both guys are fathers?!!?
  5. This fight is really going to make it to pay-per-view?? People actually care?
  6. But how?!
  7. What is this fight really about?
  8. But why?!

Now, nevermind that I feel totally uncomfortable about this whole thing. I have too many questions. Isn't it pretty ironic that Chris has had a bad reputation for YEARS for beating up on people and being verbally/mentally abusive to others, and now he's welcoming an "official" fight in the ring? I don't get it. And despite his public outrage and outbursts, he actually has a lot to lose in the event he loses to Soulja. I mean, it is Soulja. According to the public, everyone is seeing the potential of Chris losing the fight to Soulja as just plain laughable. Needless to say, the fight is allegedly expected to raise money for charity. But I still don't get it? Maybe I'm too old to understand the reasoning of these young "celebs" (and I use that term loosely). Bottomline: It all just seems ridiculous, if you ask me...which no one did.

But I say all of this to say, we (you and I) are all fighting a fight. We are fighting for our careers. Our dreams. Our sanity. Our families. Our friends. Respect. Freedom. Happiness. Love. Life. And someone somewhere sees our way, and reason, as being completely ridiculous. It's the fight that someone doesn't understands. We're all fighting for what matters the most to us, regardless how crazy it looks to everybody else. The difference is, our fight isn't being showcased (hopefully) for the rest of the world to make a spectacle.

So while, I'm still scratching my head over the Chris Brown versus Soulja Boy "battle," I'm reminded that I too am fighting my own ridiculous fight - just like the rest of yall.

What would you fight for? Is there anything off limits?
